Summative Evaluation Report – national pilot

Summative Evaluation Report of January 2019 activity[/caption]

I’m a Medic, supported by Health Education England (HEE) set out to address a gap in outreach provision. The pilot programme in January 2019 was aimed at Year 8 students in schools that get below average outreach from medical schools.

The aim was to show students the breadth of career opportunities in the NHS and help them feel that some of those careers could be for them. This evaluation finds that I’m a Medic helps students see the breadth of jobs and routes available to them, and that they could find a career in the NHS.

Using qualitative methods such as analysis of questions asked, focus groups, interviews and open-ended survey questions, the evaluation also highlighted that I’m a Medic has some rare qualities that make it particularly effective. Continue reading

Thank you from your winner – Tarik!

Thank you for choosing me as the winner of the Primary Care Zone! I am very honoured and feel privileged to have had this opportunity to engage with you all. It was great to see all the questions from students, such as Have you ever had any doubts about yourself or your practice?, Why did you choose your specialty? and What methods do you use with anxious and phobic customers?  The questions were thought provoking and made me reflect a lot more.
Thanks also to all the moderators and organisers, and teachers and students. This event has reinvigorated me to engage more with local schools and to engage with people with different backgrounds to encourage careers in primary healthcare and especially dentistry. I’m going to donate the prize money to a dental society who give talks at local schools and have programs to encourage careers in Dentistry from different backgrounds and make it accessible to all.

Student Winners – November 2017

After every event we ask the healthcare professionals and moderators to select the students who stood out for them; the students they thought asked the best questions, or engaged most in the live chats.

There were so many interesting questions, and comments, but there could only be one winner in the General Practice Zone. So, for fantastic engagement during the event and for posting brilliant questions and comments, the winner below will receive a certificate and a gift voucher. Well done to the student winner, and everyone who took part.

Seven healthcare professionals are talking to the students in the General Practice Zone, including General Practitioners and trainee GPs, a Nurse Practitioner and a Practice Manager.
